Business
Baker Hughes Company Baker Hughes Company (NASDAQ: BKR) is an energy technology company that provides a comprehensive portfolio of equipment, technologies, and services across the energy and industrial value chains worldwide; its operations span onshore and offshore oilfield activities, gas processing, power generation, emissions management, and emerging low-carbon solutions such as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), hydrogen, and geothermal applications. The company operates through two primary segments: Oilfield Services & Equipment (OFSE), which delivers well construction products including drill bits, drilling fluids, and services; completions, intervention, and measurements encompassing wireline services, pressure pumping, and downhole tools; production solutions featuring artificial lift systems and chemicals; and subsea & surface pressure systems for wellhead control, flexible pipes, and life-of-field services including decommissioning; and Industrial & Energy Technology (IET), which offers gas technology equipment and services for LNG, pipelines, and distribution including turbines, compressors, and aftermarket support; industrial products such as Waygate Technologies for non-destructive testing, valves (Maisoneilan, Consolidated, Becker, Mooney brands), gears (Lufkin, Allen brands), and pipeline integrity solutions; industrial solutions via Cordant platform with Panametrics, Druck, Reuter-Stokes instrumentation, and Bently Nevada condition monitoring; and climate technology for decarbonization. Founded through the 1987 merger of Baker International (established 1907 in Coalinga, California) and Hughes Tool Company (established 1908 in Houston, Texas), Baker Hughes Company maintains dual headquarters in Houston, Texas, and London, United Kingdom, and conducts business in over 120 countries serving upstream, midstream, downstream, and industrial customers including oil and natural gas operators, LNG facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, data centers, and hard-to-abate sectors. Among its latest major developments, the company announced in July 2025 a $13.6 billion all-cash acquisition of Chart Industries to bolster its IET segment with enhanced LNG, clean power, and industrial gas capabilities, projecting $325 million in annual cost synergies by year three through manufacturing efficiencies and supply chain optimization; it completed the $540 million acquisition of Continental Disc Corporation in August 2025, integrating critical pressure relief valves and rupture discs to complement its existing valves portfolio and immediately accretive to earnings; and continues strategic realignments including expanded digital, AI, and automation integrations for remote operations and net-zero initiatives.
